15 Jul 2022         Rotary club of Pune Lokmanyanagar holds first ever Rotary meeting of it’s type in world on Metaverse The metaverse is considered the next evolution of the internet. It will take many forms, including gaming, online communities and business meetings where people collaborate via a digital facsimile or avatar of themselves. In the metaverse, people use avatars to represent themselves, communicate with each other and virtually build out the community. First time in the world a Club meeting of Rotary club of Pune Lokmanyanagar held a regular meeting using this new technology on 14 th July 2022 thereby creating history. President of Rotary club of Lokmanyanagar Dr Madhura Vipra took the initiative to hold this unique meeting. She called the meeting to order and introduced all the guests. She presented her club vision and plans for the year 2022-23. Considering DEI (Diversity Equity Inclusion) focus of Rotary International, her clubhas inducted a transgender as Honorary Member and also helped several transgender members with jobs in corporates. She also appealed audience from all over the world to come lend a helping hand with their generosity. Guest of Honour who conceptualised this innovative idea Dr Deepak Shikarpur enlightened audience about technical aspects of Metaverse. Rotary International is a leading user of technology. It already uses Augmented Reality to showcase global service projects. It’s only a matter of time before RI adopts metaverse for its working. In future, Conferences, Events and training seminars will be held on metaverse. Chief Guest Dr Anil Parmar lauded innovative efforts of Rotary Pune Lokmanyanagar and spoke about various initiatives RID 3131 is undertaking in the year (2022-23). He briefed audience about Vision of First Lady RI President Jennifer Jones. He also briefed about all training events held by his team for Rotarians and club leaders as well as District Officers. Rotarian Atul Kaluskar, also a member of Rotary club of Lokmanyanagar and Managing Director of Crescendo world-wide limited, who has created World beyond metaverse in which rotary metaverse universe was created, showcased various initiatives and held a walkthrough of the Rotary booth in metaverse. Each present member later was exposed to personal experience of metaverse and its various features. President Dr Madhura Vipra gave vote of thanks and adjourned this Unique meeting.
